Foundation Text, Table to the Text Core Component
Rich text, including tables, through the rich text editor. Adobe lists the Text Core Component as the replacement for the Foundation Text, Table components, which are deprecated in AEM 6.5.
What changes
- Foundation Table content moves into Text components; enable the rich text editor's table features in the policy.
- Check rich text editor plugins your authors relied on are enabled in the new policy.
How to migrate
- Create a proxy of the Text Core Component in your project under /apps and point templates and policies at it, so future Core Component versions are a one-line change.
- Configure the template policy (allowed options, styles) to match what authors could do before.
- Write a conversion rule that maps existing Foundation content to the new component's properties; Adobe's AEM Modernization Tools apply such rules to content in bulk.
- Run the conversion on a copy of production content, compare rendered pages side by side, then let authors test editing.
