Foundation Page to the Page Core Component
The Core Page component is the base for pages built on editable templates. Adobe lists the Page Core Component as the replacement for the Foundation Page component, which are deprecated in AEM 6.5.
What changes
- Static templates must become editable templates first; the template and page component change together.
- Page-level properties your Foundation page component added need equivalents in your proxy of the Core Page component.
How to migrate
- Create a proxy of the Page Core Component in your project under /apps and point templates and policies at it, so future Core Component versions are a one-line change.
- Configure the template policy (allowed options, styles) to match what authors could do before.
- Write a conversion rule that maps existing Foundation content to the new component's properties; Adobe's AEM Modernization Tools apply such rules to content in bulk.
- Run the conversion on a copy of production content, compare rendered pages side by side, then let authors test editing.
