Foundation Image, Adaptive Image, Logo, Mobile Image, Mobile Logo to the Image Core Component
One responsive image component replaces five Foundation variants. Adobe lists the Image Core Component as the replacement for the Foundation Image, Adaptive Image, Logo, Mobile Image, Mobile Logo components, which are deprecated in AEM 6.5.
What changes
- Responsive widths are configured in the policy instead of separate mobile components.
- Logo and mobile variants become Image components with suitable policies; link and alt text properties need mapping.
How to migrate
- Create a proxy of the Image Core Component in your project under /apps and point templates and policies at it, so future Core Component versions are a one-line change.
- Configure the template policy (allowed options, styles) to match what authors could do before.
- Write a conversion rule that maps existing Foundation content to the new component's properties; Adobe's AEM Modernization Tools apply such rules to content in bulk.
- Run the conversion on a copy of production content, compare rendered pages side by side, then let authors test editing.
