Moving from Foundation components to Core Components

Foundation components have been deprecated since AEM 6.5 in favour of Core Components, which Adobe updates automatically on Cloud Service. BPA reports Foundation-based custom components under CCOM with subtype custom.foundation.

What to use instead

Proxy components under /apps that set sling:resourceSuperType to a versioned Core Component, for example core/wcm/components/text/v2/text.

How to fix it

1. Map each Foundation-derived component to its Core Component equivalent.
2. Create proxies and move customisations into HTL and Sling Models.
3. Use the Modernization Tools component converter to rewrite existing content to the new resource types.
4. Compare rendered HTML before and after on a page sample.
