Writing files to disk on AEM as a Cloud Service

Instances are replaced during releases and scaling. Files written to disk outside temporary use disappear, and other instances never see them.

What to use instead

The JCR repository for small data, Sling Jobs for queued work, and external object storage for large files. Temporary files in java.io.tmpdir are fine if deleted after use.

How to fix it

1. Find FileOutputStream, FileWriter and Files.write usages.
2. Keep short-lived temp files; move anything that must persist.
